Discover how we captured the essence of winter for our latest collection
Introducing La Neige. Captured in Val d'Isère, our latest collection draws inspiration from the natural beauty of the French Alps. With deep, moody colours and soft, icy tones, the palette reflects the contrasts of the winter landscape, offering a striking and contemporary take on seasonal shades to bring you six new gel colours.
Want an exclusive peek into one of our most exciting shoots to date? Our Head of Brand, @joelyoceannails, talks us through the process of planning & executing a shoot abroad, plus the inspiration that shaped the La Neige collection.
What inspired the theme for the La Neige collection & shoot?
I wanted to add deeper blues, greens, and greys to our collection, as we were missing core shades like a rich bottle green. And what better season to do that than winter!
The Alps inspired the theme because the landscape’s greens, greys, and blues perfectly matched our new shades, creating a natural and wintery look.
Where was the shoot located, and why this location?
We shot in Val d’Isère in France, which has stunning views and an authentic winter atmosphere. It’s a beautiful location that really brought our theme to life with its snowy peaks and serene alpine scenery.
What was the vision & creative process behind the styling of the shoot?
The aesthetic was inspired by a "ski girl" vibe with cozy, luxe touches. My Pinterest board was filled with fur layers, minimalist winter wear, and an après-ski style.
Mood boarding played a huge role in defining the look, from colour choices to wardrobe. We considered not just the nails but the entire aesthetic of the models, accessories, and landscapes.
What were some challenges faced during the shoot, and how were they overcome?
One challenge was that some locations didn’t look like they did online, so we had to adapt on the spot.
I also tried stamping our logo in the snow after making a footprint, which didn’t work out (it was a huge fail but was fun to try!).
Lastly, we chose to shoot on location as we wanted it to look colder on the photos, keeping in with the season of the release, but it was sunnier than expected the whole time were there.
What are your essentials when travelling for a shoot?
First and foremost, my digital camera for shooting campaign imagery! My iPhone is also a must-have for capturing behind-the-scenes content.
Our Rescue+ Vitamin Cuticle Oil and hand cream are always an essential, especially in cold, dry weather.
Additionally, a portable light and chargers are crucial any time I travel. Lighting can be unpredictable, and staying powered up ensures I never miss a shot.
