1. Prep The Nails
As with any gel manicure, thorough nail prep is essential for creating a long-lasting finish.
Begin by gently pushing back the cuticles with our Cuticle Pusher to expose the full nail plate. Using the Nail Preparation Tool to carefully remove any non-living tissue around the nail, ensuring the surface is clean and ready for product application. Finish with our Cuticle Nippers or Cuticle Scissors to give a neat, clean finish around the cuticle.
Shape the nails to your desired length and style, then lightly buff the surface to remove shine and create the ideal texture for gel adhesion.
Before applying any product, cleanse the nail plate with Acetone and Lint-Free Wipes to remove dust, oils and residue. A clean foundation will help prevent lifting and ensure a smoother application.
2. Create Your Base
Apply your chosen base system depending on your client’s needs and preferred service.
Whether you’re using Basic Base, Naturabuild or Acrylic, create a smooth and even foundation before moving on to your colour layers.
3. Apply Base Colour
Apply Glass Yellow as your base shade, building the intensity with two thin layers.
Cure each layer for 60 seconds, ensuring the colour is fully cured before moving onto your tortoiseshell detailing.
Glass Yellow creates the warm amber tones that form the foundation of the tortie effect, allowing the deeper shades to stand out while maintaining that translucent, natural finish.
4. Apply Smudge
Apply a thin layer of our blooming gel, Smudge, over the cured Glass Yellow base.

Using a Round Gel Brush, apply small, irregular patches of Glass Brown over the uncured blooming gel.

Allow the blooming gel to soften and spread the colour before moving onto your next shade.
6. Add Depth With Ebony
Using a Round Gel Brush or Liner Brush, add small touches of Ebony to create contrast and dimension.

7. Blend And Refine Your Design
